  1. Dialer v2.2  (Replaces Dialer v2.1)  Easy Phone Dialer, not a terminal emulator.

  3. This program requires VBRUN300.DLL if you do not have it, your local
  4. BBS should.  It was not packaged with this program to conserve disk
  5. space, or because I am lazy.

  12. Version 2.2 of Dialer has the following bug enhancements: (Better Bugs)

  14.     (Thanks to John T. Chiu for his information on the following enhancements)
  15.     Telephone number length is now up to 55 characters. ( 55 - person's_name )
  16.     International Dialing so John can call his family.  ( 011-55-555-5555....)
  17.     Added redialing capabilities

  19.     Fixed some bugs in the Setup/Configuration screen.
  20.     Dialer now centers itself on any screen. (Any.... Ha Ha.  Feedback needed)

  22.     IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Dialer v2.2 requires a comma between the NAME and the
  23.                NUMBER of each name in the phone directory. This allows
  24.                for longer (unlimited?) phone numbers needed for inter-
  25.                national calls. I use a word processor with global search
  26.                and replace functions to insert commas.

  33. INSTALLATION:  
  34.  
  35. By now you have already UNZIPPED Dialer.zip
  36.  
  37. -  Type at the A:\> prompt INSTALL (or B:\> INSTALL)
  38. -  Execute Windows
  39. -  Option:  Open the Program Manager and make a new group "DIALER"
  40. -  Open the file manager and select the DIALER directory
  41. -  Drag DIALER.EXE from the File Manager to the appropriate program
  42.    group under the Program Manager. (Drag all *.txt files also.)
  43. -  Double Click the Dialer Icon.

  45. CREATING YOUR OWN DIRECTORY:
  46.  
  47. The simple text file structure of this phone directory is ideal
  48. because phone lists can be generated out of almost any com-
  49. mercially available phone number data base and used with
  50. this program.  The format is simple, NAMES on the left and
  51. NUMBERS on the right.  
  52.  
  53. Ex.:

  55. John Doe, (719) 555-1212
  56. John Doe, [pager] (719) 443-1212
  57.  
  58. Note:  "()" for Area Code Optional
  59.  
  60. Note:   Dialer v2.2 now requires a comma "," between the name and the number.
  61.     Any comma found after the first comma will be interpreted as a pause 
  62.     for the modem.

  65. These numbers will be formatted and displayed on the Dialer v2.2
  66. "Main" screen as:

  69. John Doe [pager]____________________________(719) 443-1212

  71. Note:   Comma is NOT displayed on the Dialer's main screen.

  74. Most of the time, I find it most convenient to use the "Notepad" 
  75. under Windows to edit my phone lists. (Or EDIT in DOS) I tend to 
  76. use multiple phone books (*.txt files) to keep home, work  and 
  77. frequently called numbers grouped together and organized. You do 
  78. not have to enter these phone numbers in alphabetical order either.  
  79. Just enter them, run Dialer, and select the "Directory" option, and 
  80. press "OK".  The next time you view the directory it will be organ-
  81. ized alphabetically.
